A few things to catch up on, Plus the weather wasn’t the best.
We decided we would still head out: We walked down to the station together where Jim and Helen caught a bus to Uni. Linda, Bill and Lynne caught the train to Canada Place en route to Capilano.
We purchased a Compass ticket at the vending machine as we have done each day. Easy to use, can take cash or card and can issue Day Pass or single journey. We decided on Day Pass as we weren’t sure how much we would use the public transport.
Once at Canada Place we hopped on the free shuttle that took us to Capilano
We were treated to a commentary about the places that we passed through en route to Capilano, such as Trump Tower
Once at Capilano we picked up a free poncho for protection against the wet. On entry into the park we joined a tour that took us through the entry to the park, explaining the history and facts about the park, including these Totems
And this example of a longhouse
Once in the park there were several options that our ticket gave us access to. We ended up doing them all, hence were there all day,
First of all we did the amazing Cliff Walk
Very picturesque with many photo opportunities
Lynne an Bill out on the skywalk
With mist in the valley shrouding the Suspension Bridge
Another skywalk view
The cliff walk took us up and down many steps. I have a video showing this
It took us Alongside the Cspilano River
Through mist and cloud and through rainforest
With plenty of information explaining the area, along the walk
The walk ended at the Cliffhouse Restaurant where we had yummy clam chowder and drinks.
Bill a local beer
and Lin and Lynne Espresso Martinis
After lunch we decided to tackle the bridge,
We were lucky that the weather wasn’t the best because not only were there not huge crowds but it also all looked so picturesque
The bridge swayed quite a bit whilst crossing it.
Needless to say we stopped on the way across for photo shoots as did most others.
These photos don’t show the enormity of the bridge- a few stats to highlight this:
It is 230ft (70 metres) high, 450 ft (137 metres) long and can hold more than 200,000 lbs (96,000kg) 96 elephants can parade across it
Once on the other side of the bridge there were options for us there. First of all we chose to go on the guided nature walk where we learnt about the different trees
and wildlife- including the banana slug
Next we did the Treetop Walk. An incredible walk up in the treetops, across platforms that went high up in the canopy
Then we did the Natures Edge boardwalk below the canopy
After a quick visit to the Trading Post to sample and buy fudge, we headed back down on the bus to Waterfront, where we then caught a train to a Yaletown where we then walked down to the water to catch a ferry
to take us to the market at Granville Island, where we met up with Jim and Helen who had caught the ferry across from the Maritime Museum.
We spent a bit of time wandering around the market, sampling some of the food, before heading out to Bridges - a bistro for dinner.
Highlight of our ferry trip home were the city lights
The painted silos
and especially Science World lit up
